pray, & give it to Jesus.

Pray, & give it to Jesus.

Oh, don’t worry… I’ve got this… I know what I’m doing. I can do anything and basically conquer the world! Doesn’t this sound pretty accurate? Sadly, I think a lot of us have this mind-set. We think we can do everything all on our own, and we sure don’t want anyone telling us what to do, or how to live our lives.

Whoa!! Huge road block right there. Is that how we should be living our lives? A self-centered life that is all about ME, ME, ME? Who cares about anything, or anyone else that is around us? I need to be living by my ideas and my standards. (I know, I’m overly exaggerating this a tad bit. :))

He must become greater; I must become less.-John 3:30

Something that I have always battled with, is realizing that my ideas are not necessarily God’s ideas. I think most of the time our ideas are completely different from His. Personally, I’m so thankful for that. Think about how many opportunities we would miss, how much danger we might encounter, etc. I’m so thankful for a God that is so loving that directs my steps even when I’m being selfish.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11

This is where my main point comes in. The part a lot of us are missing is prayer. We need to pray for His guidance, His plan. Prayer is such an important step in our walk as Christians. I believe a lot of people completely skip prayer, and turn to themselves for advice and ideas. Prayer should be us humbly coming before our God and letting go of everything.

To pray is to let go, and let God take over.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

We should hand over all of our plans to Him, and ask Him to show us what He truly wants for our lives. Empty yourself, and let God fill you.

As I was preparing for this and focusing on prayer, I was convicted on my own prayer life especially in this area. We should be so thankful that we have a Father that is so caring and loving, and goes to such an extreme for each of us.

>>> There truly is no sweeter name than the name of Jesus

Something that is so reassuring for me, is to know that no matter what we pray about, He is always there to listen to what we have to say. He might not always grant every single prayer. Maybe He will at a later time, or maybe it is not in His will at all. I can’t help but think how undeserving I truly am to have such an awesome God!

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.- 1 Peter 3:12

Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath. -Psalm 116:2

“I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking & sleeping. It does not change God, it changes me.” -C.S. Lewis
