Seek His Peace.
I’ve got this, life is beautiful, we announce with a smile across our face, when sometimes it’s really a lie. In reality, a lot of times we are actually broken, upset, and hurt. When we have these emotions, we all want peace, we want that reassurance that it’s going to be ok.
As sinful humans, we search for objects or “things” to seek comfort in. We don’t seek Christ’s peace which is the only thing that can truly quench our thirst. He alone provides abounding peace that never goes away. Worldy things will pass away, but the peace of the Lord will endure forever!
For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness is to all generations. -Psalm 100:5
Jesus said, “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” -John 4:14
I have been battling a lot with this lately. I have to continuously stop to remind myself not to seek out worldly things, but to find comfort and peace in my Savior who knows what He is doing. When we put our cares in God’s hands, He puts His peace in our hearts. Yes, at times it seems hard to find peace in certain circumstances. Personally, I catch myself doubting God sometimes. That is when I turn to scripture. Only the word of God Himself can we find the foundation of peace.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:7
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. -Psalm 23:4
At the end of the day, I realized that it doesn’t matter what other people do, I’m accountable for my actions, my thoughts, my testimony. That’s when it hit me that I need to continue to strive more each and everyday to seek His peace, and His peace alone.
So, what do you seek after? Worldly peace, or God’s peace?
Find rest oh my soul, in God alone. -Psalm 62:5
